Over The Shoulder Exercise
When doing this short over the shoulder exercise, our group decided on how to act out the scriipt. We decided practicing the acting can lead to how we can plan the location and the shots. Of course there were other groups filming around us and we were limited in location so we just filmed the best way could. When following the rule of thirds, I thought it was an ok job. We didnt hit the exact "sweet" spots of the grid but it followed the principle ok. The over the shoulder shots help show a real conversation and the appearance of each character as they talked. Given the parameters of the location and the time we had to practice the script, the conversation came out pretty well. The compostion isn't up to par but the conversation between Jacob and Morgan turned out better than expected. Sicne there wasn't so much time to practice the characters in the script we gave the tone as a suprise and saracasm towards the end. When Jacob asks "enough to?" we implied we would use the money for entertainment i.e. food, games, party, etc. Then Morgan says it's meant for college and the left Jacob to sarcastically say "yea". When using over the shoulder shots is hepls show a conversation in real time and allows to show the reactions of each character as they say their dialogue.
